As the FIFA 2010 World Cup marketing machine gets underway, a small informal community on the outskirts of Cape Town prepares for its own township football competition. The excitement for 2010 is tempered by the daily poverty and overhanging threat of eviction; a stark reminder of the ongoing disparity in the shadow of Cape Town’s Table Mountain. Wandile Tonqa, a schoolboy from this community feels these challenges more than most; in his final year at school he must alone find an income to support himself and his sister in their small shack…he also desperately wants to win the township competition.
