Episode Information
Malaysia boasts some of the most ancient forests on the planet. These are biological treasure troves; home to an unparalleled wealth of life. ‘Forgotten Forests of Malaysia’ explores the trails and tribulations of the next generation arriving in the jungle world and finding their feet. A portrait of the jungle’s inhabitants at different stages of their breeding cycles. From the first tentative steps of a baby proboscis monkey to a cascade of translucent spiderlings hatching from the egg of an ogre faced spider, ‘Forgotten of Forests of Malaysia’ explores some of our planet’s most enigmatic evolutionary marvels while they are at their most vulnerable. We follow the life of the captivating orchid mantis - a predatory hunter that as an adult looks like a jungle flower and as a baby mimics red ants. We see the babies hatch and explore a new jungle world and later catch their first prey. Through intimate story telling, interwoven narratives and stunning macro photography we follow our character’s mesmerising journeys from infancy to adulthood.
