Auschwitz Birkenau is a former nazi concentration and extermination camp, the world's largest cemetery and resting place. However, this is not an ordinary museum. It is also one of the most modern conservation workshops in the world and a hi-tech lab. In this TV series, using state-of-the-art equipment, we examine personal items and belongings, found in Auschwitz. Each item tells a fascinating story. What mystery lies behind the Arbeit Macht Frei gate inscription? What is written in the mysterious notes made by Sonderkommando – that can be read-only with a special multispectral camera? What secrets are hidden in the only preserved floor of the gas chamber? Who was the owner of the criminal pseudomedical tools in block 10? These are just some of the questions the series will tackle.
