Episode Information
Randall Jay Moore is an elephant rescuer. His mission is to take orphaned elephants who have landed in zoos and circuses around the world, and return them home to Africa. It is his dream that they once again return to life in the wilds. In the meanwhile, he trains the elephants to carry tourists through Botswana’s Okavango Delta. This way the elephants earn their keep, and are slowly reintroduced to their natural habitat. The drama of the film shifts up a gear when Shireeni, a young cow in the captive herd, yields a newborn calf. It’s a first for the family, and signifies a step forward in their healing and rehabilitation. But the little calf has been born prematurely, and the family rallies round in a bid to save him. It’s a race against time, and no one quite knows what’s the right thing to do. It’s nature at its cruellest and sometimes, nature can’t be tamed.
