Episode Information

Spring has arrived, and with it comes the mating season for Germany’s wildlife. As creatures seek out partners and strive to reproduce, the natural world becomes a stage for dramatic displays of courtship, competition, and survival.

The challenges are immense. Mice populations have dwindled over the winter, leaving females with a limited window to find suitable mates. Male kingfishers must endure the aggression of their chosen females to prove their worth. Starlings and pheasants risk life and limb in their showy displays to attract mates and fend off rivals. Even the badger’s nocturnal trysts are a race against time. This spring, the animal kingdom’s quest for procreation promises to be as captivating as it is challenging.
