Cyndi Lauper was one of the biggest names in pop music in the 1980s, but as the years have passed, she has moved further away from the spotlight and closer to a normal life, or at least as normal as someone whose debut album was titled "She's So Unusual" can be. The series documents Lauper's home life with her husband of 20-plus years, actor David Thornton, and teenage son, Declyn, as she struggles to find time to spend with them while working on the latest ventures in her professional life -- launching the Broadway musical "Kinky Boots," for which she wrote the music, and finishing her autobiography on deadline. Performing on "The Voice" and serving as the grand marshal of the Pegasus Parade at the Kentucky Derby -- during which she accidentally utters a certain four-letter word on live TV -- are among other events in which Lauper participates.
