River In The Sky
1 x 60'
There is a river in the sky bigger than the Amazon and it flows above Brazil. This film explores how it feeds and replenishes one of the most spectacular places on Earth; how it shapes the abundant and diverse nature of Brazil and influences the climate of the world.
The sky river begins its journey over the Atlantic Ocean. As moisture builds, it flows westward above the emerald crown of the Amazon rainforest. Here it sucks up a phenomenal amount of water vapour every day. Up to 20 billion tons of moisture from billions of trees.
The river’s water laden clouds eventually bump up against the Andes and are steered south and then east, which means rain for Brazil.
‘River in the Sky’ tells the story of Brazil’s nature from a unique perspective. Its ebb and flow take us deep into the heart of the forest, to mountains, rivers and plains. 60% of the Amazon rainforest is in Brazil. It has the most known species of plants, freshwater fish and mammals on Earth. We meet jaguars, caimans, anteaters and giants otters, hummingbirds and howler monkeys; to discover why the river in the sky is their lifeblood.
